Your Cruise:

For an entirely different experience, embark upon a cruise along the New England coast and visit memorable ports of call with Queen Mary 2. Travel to historic cities such as Boston, Bar Harbor and Halifax, birthplace of Cunard’s founder, Samuel Cunard.

New York: See the bright lights of the Big Apple, international mecca and melting pot, with expensive brownstones, colourful neighbourhoods like Greenwich Village and the Upper West Side and the legendary Central Park. Explore some of the world's great museums. Some come just for the shopping: there’s Bloomingdale’s on Lex, Tiffany’s on Fifth, Barneys and the unique boutiques along Madison. Or head downtown and explore the trendy shops of SoHo. Walk across iconic Brooklyn Bridge, this engineering milestone ranks among the world's greatest suspension bridges.

New Port: It’s a rich man’s world. Well, it certainly is among the fabulous millionaire mansions. Renaissance, Rococo, French and Victorian – Newport’s clifftops are a showcase of extravagance in all its forms! From city sidewalks to a stroll along the sandy shore, Newport has an enticing selection of public beaches, ideal for taking in the bracing Rhode Island sea breeze.

Boston: Boston is the largest city of Massachusetts and New England located in a natural harbour showcasing significant historic sites such as The Freedom Trail. Discover the birth of a nation at the Boston Tea Party ship or for more contemporary pleasures, get shopping for bargains. You can always drop in where everybody knows your name – TV’s famous Cheers bar.

Bar Harbour: There’s a sense of natural paradise around Bar Harbor. Funny coincidence, then, that it was once named Eden – in honour of an early settler – Sir Richard Eden. From a secluded haven for artists to elitist holiday retreat, Maine’s oldest summer resort also enchants visitors with its immense natural beauty in the fall. In Acadia National Park, take to Cadillac Mountain – the East Coast’s highest with outstanding views of the Porcupine Islands and Frenchman Bay.

St Johns: Make sure you catch the high tide! Twice a day, it sends water churning up the St. John River to create the spectacular reversing falls in a narrow gorge. On a jet boat ride, you could see it up close! Peruse Canada’s oldest continuing museum, the New Brunswick Museum, with its natural history displays, local artworks and innovative modern tidal feature.

Halifax: The star-shaped fortress stands guard to this fascinating city. Stand beside Sir Samuel Cunard himself, our visionary Nova Scotia founder has been immortalised in bronze and again presides over his elegant, hometown waterfront. Visit Halifax gardens – a tranquil tapestry of manicured lawns, winding paths and iron railings – crowned by an ornate Victorian bandstand.

Quebec: The only fortified city in continental America, there’s every possibility you’ll lose your heart to Québec, an unforgettable cocktail of old world charm and urban sophistication. Stroll around the quaint back streets of Montmartre and Petit Champlain, perfectly punctuated by a visit – or two – to the city’s patisseries.
